52 Weeks of Gratitude

Week 1: Why start this challenge?

Admittedly, that’s something that doesn’t come naturally to me. I’m more inclined to grumble when life doesn’t quite turn out the way I’d hoped than to be thankful for life just as it is. Perhaps intensified by the highly consumerist society that we are in now, there is a feeling of entitlement that sometimes bars me from seeing the beauty in the reality of day to day life.

I’d said in a previous post that I’m excited to see how life would be different if I intentionally spent a portion of my time being thankful. I have no idea what to expect: whether small changes in the way that I see everyday situations, or a paradigm shift that entirely transforms the way that I think about life. Either way, there is nothing to be lost from spending time in gratitude, right?

I’m starting this challenge to look at life in a different way. There’s always something to be gained by sharing happiness around. I’d love to have a common theme that I blog about for a year to make it more interesting to see how I’ve grown in that period. Plus, it sounds like a fun one to blog about!
